As of May 1, 2019, attorneys in Maine now have to get 12 hours of CLE credit each year because Maine Bar Rule 5 was amended by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. This change continues to prohibit more than 5 hours of CLE from being taken through self-study. Attorneys are also still required to attend 1 live hour of ethics and professionalism and 1 in-person hour on discrimination or harassment. Beginning January 1, 2020, attorneys will report their CLE credits for the previous year. Therefore, on January 1, 2020 attorneys will submit their 23 credits for both 2018 and 2019.
